THE WORLD OF POCKET MONEY ADVENTURES

Welcome to Silverton.
A whole world to explore.

Meet the city behind Ava’s story. A place for conversations about wanting, waiting and choosing.

What would you like to do?

01 / THE IDEA

Big money conversations.
Small places to start.

PMA helps grown-ups talk with children about wanting, waiting and choosing. Ava’s story gives you a shared starting point, without asking about your family’s finances.

A story children can get into

Ava wants the Super Speed Trainers. Her money-band says zero. What could she do? The story opens a conversation about choices.

Something to try together

Read the book, sort everyday examples into needs and wants, or explore Silverton. Children can talk, point, watch or pass.

A way to bring it to more children

Schools can use a free teaching pack or explore a funded programme. Organisations can equip colleagues, host a session or fund access.

02 / THE STORY & THE ROUTINE

Ava wants it.
What could she do next?

In Ava Saves Up!, the Super Speed Trainers catch Ava’s eye. Her money-band says zero. With the Silverton Speed Cup approaching, she has a choice to make.

A small pause, then a choice

Tap, Tap, Pause. Take one breath, then ask, “Do I need it, or do I want it?” and “If I get it now, what can’t I get later?” Then choose.

Read → try → take a question home

Read: pause at Ava’s choice. Try: use three pretend coins and two fictional choices; ask what choosing one leaves for the other. Take home: “What else could we choose?” This is an illustrative activity, not a test of a family’s money.

The words that travel with the story

“Save some. Spend some. Share some if you can.”

03 / THE WORLD

A story world.
A choice to explore.

Step into Silverton, the town where Ava’s story happens. Explore together, then bring one small money conversation back into everyday life.

Silverton Bank

Find the bank on the town map. Use the setting to open a conversation about saving.

Budget Bend

Explore choices about what to save, spend and share. Ask: “What would you choose?”

The Library

Discover Ava’s story together. The town and preview are free; the full story needs a code or paid access.

04 / FOR SCHOOLS

Bring the story
into the classroom.

Two separate routes for your school: use the free teaching pack yourself, or explore a supported programme for Reception and KS1.

Use the free KS1 pack

Four lessons for Years 1 and 2, with a teacher guide and pupil materials. Download them without applying for a programme place. This pack holds the ACT Quality Mark.

What PMA does in the programme

We lead a 60–75 minute Spark Session and bring the agreed classroom pack. A school adult stays present. We provide support and reporting.

What your school does

Agree the visit and access needs, then use one Sidekick Card a week for six weeks. Allow about 15 teacher minutes a week, including up to five minutes of preparation. Family activities are optional; nothing comes back as homework.

05 / AT HOME & IN THE COMMUNITY

One small activity.
A conversation to share.

Start at home with familiar objects and one question: “What is it for?” There is no book to buy, worksheet to print or pocket money to provide.

Parents: Needs, wants and “it depends”

Make three spaces and choose familiar objects or examples. Ask: “What is it for?” Your child can point, move an object, talk, watch or pass. No printer, book purchase or pocket money is needed.

Then follow your child’s interest

Read Ava’s story, use another parent guide or explore Silverton together. There is no need to start with a programme or test for a right answer.

Community hosts: bring a group together

Ask about a story-and-activity session for children aged five and above with their grown-ups. Format, group size, materials, access needs, cost and timing are agreed with you.

06 / FOR PARTNERS

Your people.
A shared adventure.

Your colleagues know your community. PMA can bring a story, activities and support to help them start money conversations with children and families.

01 Equip your own colleagues

Your team brings local relationships and delivery skills. PMA brings Ava’s story, activity ideas and agreed preparation or training. View the sample, then shape one small trial around your people.

02 Host an experience

Bring PMA into a setting you know. We can discuss PMA-led delivery or a shared session, with clear roles and responsibilities.

03 Help more people take part

Fund an agreed package of books, school places or community sessions. Define who it reaches, what is included and how delivery will be reported.

07 / THE PEOPLE & THE EVIDENCE

Imagination at the front.
Care behind it.

Pocket Money Adventures CIC delivers the education and community work. Our resources, delivery arrangements and developing evidence are there for adults to examine.

Recognition for specific resources

Ava Saves Up! School Edition holds the Financial Education Quality Mark, awarded by Young Enterprise and supported by the Money and Pensions Service (Issue 0195, September 2026). The separate four-lesson KS1 pack holds the ACT Quality Mark (October 2026).

Thoughtful delivery

School and community arrangements include host responsibilities, appropriate safeguarding and access planning. Current policies and due-diligence documents are available through the school and community websites.

An honest stage of development

The book and learning resources are available now; Silverton is in early access. We are building delivery evidence and feedback. Quality marks recognise resources; they do not establish long-term outcomes for children.

08 / YOUR NEXT STEP

Start small.
Make it yours.

You do not need to commit to a programme to begin. Try an activity, explore a school resource or see what a colleague could lead.

Parents: try it today

Use familiar objects to explore needs, wants and “it depends”. Open the free guide and choose an example together.

Parents: try the free activity

Schools: choose what fits

Use the free four-lesson KS1 pack yourself. For PMA-led support, explore the funded programme and agree a place, package and date.

Schools: download the free KS1 pack Schools: explore the programme

Partners: picture your team doing this

Look through the sample session, then tell us who you want to reach. We can discuss colleague preparation, shared delivery or funding access, at a pace that suits you.
